Short Stories by Texas Authors

is an annual contest to find the best Texas Authors while raising money for literacy programs. This is one of the many brain storms from B. Alan Bourgeois the director and founder of Texas Authors, Inc., a not for profit organization designed to help support and market Texas Authors.

Effective for the 2023 Contest, we are now taking entries throughout the year.  There is an additional quarterly contest as follows:

Jan - March is Non-Fiction,

April - June is Children's,

July - Sept. is Fiction,

Oct - Dec is Middle School & YA short stories.

Any writer who lives in Texas is eligible

to submit a short story in any category. The 2016 contest will begin on March 1st with a $30 entry fee per story. The minimum count allowed is 1,500 words, the maximum word count allowed is 3,000 words. A Texas writer can enter as many stories as they would like. The story can not have been published at any time in any form. No poetry will be accepted for entry.
